Mahiʻai Makahiki
Our convention is more than just a gathering — it's a chance to make your voice heard, gain insights on current opportunities, and be part of solutions that strengthen our community and industry. Save the dates for our biggest gathering of the year!
Our theme, "Mahi‘ai Makahiki" honors the hardworking farmers, fishers, ranchers, and food producers who form the foundation of Hawai‘i’s food systems. Together, we’ll celebrate the season of harvest, reflection, and renewal through community, culture, and connection.

Makahiki Games
Test your skills in traditional Hawaiian games and a friendly competition to celebrate the season of Lono.
Farmer-led Education and Advocacy
Join engaging presentations and panels on critical issues including Indigenous Agricultural Practices, Policy Advocacy, Market Access, and CTAHR.
Hands-on Workshops
Learn from experts in interactive sessions featuring natural dyeing, niu (coconut) weaving, ‘awa preparation, and biochar production.
Farmers Market
Meet local vendors and browse a curated selection of locally grown produce, value added products and unique creations from farmers and community partners.

DAY 1 - Friday, October 16
Community Farm Day (9am-12pm)
Kick off the convention by getting your hands in the soil and meeting your fellow farmers where they work. It’s a day for peer-to-peer learning, building relationships, and strengthening our collective roots before the main event.
DAY 2 - Saturday, October 17
Public Convention Day (8:30am - 5:30pm)
Our main public event featuring the Makahiki Games, hands-on workshops, keynote speakers, a farmers market and other celebrations.
DAY 3 - Sunday, October 18
HFU Annual Meeting (9am-2pm)
Members only
A dedicated session reserved for HFU members to steer the future of the union.
