🚨 URGENT ACTION:
Tell the Board to Deny the CRB Rule Amendment
DON'T ROLL BACK MAUI & LANA'I'S CRB PROTECTIONS
Just last month we successfully passed Interim Rule 26-2 and this month, the board is considering an amendment that would significantly compromise the protections we worked so hard to put in place.
The Amendment is proposing to allow potted plants from Hawai'i Island - where the Kona CRB infestation puts the entire island at risk — to be shipped to Maui & Lāna'i.
Also, the Big Island is NOT protected from Imports coming from Oahu and Kauai.
Potted plants are a high-risk pathway for CRB eggs & larvae.
- CRB eggs can be nearly impossible to detect
- Potted plants can carry eggs & larvae
- "Inspection" is not a guarantee
- Maui & Lāna'i are still fighting to keep CRB from becoming established
Maui's environment is too important to risk for the benefit of a few nurseries.
We can and DO grow our own plants here! We don't have to import and accept this unnecessary risk!
TELL THE BOARD:
DENY THE RULE AMENDMENT.
